History of HCS
Harvest Christian School was founded in 1990 by Bishop Steve Houpe of Harvest Church in Kansas City, Missouri. His vision was to create a place where children could receive a strong academic education in a Christ-centered environment. Guided by prayer and a commitment to minister to the whole child—spirit, soul, and body—Bishop Houpe launched the school with a focus on both spiritual development and academic excellence.
Today, that vision continues through the leadership of his wife, Mrs. Donna Houpe, who serves as the Educational Administrator, and their son, Mr. Jonathan Houpe, who now leads as Head of School. Together, the Houpe family has remained devoted to raising up future leaders through faith-based education.
Harvest Christian School serves children from 6 weeks old through middle school, combining rigorous academics with biblical teaching. With a foundation in the Abeka and Bob Jones curriculum, students are equipped not only for academic success but for leadership grounded in faith and character. HCS remains committed to its mission of “Training up Leaders who will Impact Generations.”
